IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS FROM MY HEART THAT I TELL YOU ALL MY PRECIOUS STEP DAD, DONALD R. VALENTE, PASSED AWAY FEBRUARY 24, 2004.
|
"Dad Don" had been at war with cancer since June
2003. His suffering is now over. I am happy to say he
loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart and is with Him
now. The funeral was Friday, February 27, 2004 at
2:00 PM.
"Dad Don" was a jazz historian and would have been
76 years old on March 8, 2004. He was truly our
"Jewell of Jazz!"
A veteran of the Korean War, he is survived by my
mother, my sister, myself, 5 grandchildren and 3
great-grandchildren.
My mother, Jean Ann, a rare jewel and the first
"best friend" I ever had! She is a strong woman with a
heart full of love for all. She and Danny are also best
friends, and there is nothing that Danny or I would not
do for this courageous lady!
With a full heart she bestowed love and values on her
family teaching God's Word and sharing her never
ending faith and love. She is truly a rare and
wonderful woman and mother!
We enjoy our music, talks on the phone with our *Wild
Animals*! A superlative homemaker and cook, she
also loves to play Bridge with close friends and is
actively involved in community and charity events. My
mother's example throughout my childhood is
appreciated even more as I grow older. It is truly a
delight to me and a tribute to her when I people say
"You get more like your mother every day! "
She has such empathy for others, understanding their
joys, tears and fears; she has such a deep faith
enabling her to continue life with a smile that is
"unforgettable"! My mother's love is here to stay.

Over the Rainbow Bridge.
What a wonderful world we have with Mom and
Dad Slater in it!! These very caring, loving
individuals love the Lord faithfully, create
gorgeous flower beds and patio gardens from
seed, and are loved by their many friends
them as well as all the family. They have a
zest for life that is unbelievable, and are
always "on the go" visiting family, friends and
the sick. And how they do love their pets and
their grand-fur-babies!!
Dad Slater loves to make special patio
furniture and spends hours out our farm in his
huge work shop building beautiful things. Mom
Slater is a wonderful cook and how we love the
way she prepares special Holidays for all of us!
Whatever these two special people do for
themselves or others comes from their heart!
They "HAVE HEARTS OF GOLD" and we are
so blessed to have them in our daily lives!
Danny's parents, Doris and Louis Slater

Family life is full of major and minor crises -- the ups and downs of health, success and failure in career, marriage, and divorce -- and all kinds of characters. It is tied to places and events and histories. With all of these felt details, life etches itself into memory and personality. It's difficult to imagine anything more nourishing to the soul.
